What Sweaters Are Saying!

Since the 60's people have been making statements on the front of T-shirts and sweatshirts. Sometimes it's just to let everyone else know where they've been and sometimes it's a true form of self expression. For a number of years now the French company, Zadig and Voltaire, have taken this trend of self expression from the T-shirt and transferred it to the sweater. Perhaps they might not have been the first to use the sweater but they sure have cemented it as a fashion must have. This trend has been so popular that they continue to present us with new versions year after year and we continue to love and buy them.

Along the way I have also observed a number of other companies pick up on this trend at different price points. Sometimes as a trend expert, I am amazed at how long a trend will hang around and just keep reinventing itself. This trend definitely deserves to be on the best seller list! Another one of my favorite brands with beautiful cashmere sweaters with sayings is From Future, here in Printemps department store.

In the more moderate Parisian boutiques, there are piles of sweaters (and sweatshirts) with sayings stacked on tables with even more hung on the racks. I'm sure they make a nice addition to the store's bottom line given how much real estate is allotted them. Granted they are not made out of cashmere, and sell for a lot less, but they do not disappoint when it comes to softness on the skin and the fun of wearing them! The wonderful thing about best-sellers is that they usually sell at all price points, as Z&V have shown us. It's the little trend that keeps giving.
